Last month my fella and I took a much needed and long-awaited vacation to Seattle.  The glorious and mysterious Pacific Northwest has always beckoned to me.  And not to be cliche, but the 90s grunge goddess still alive within me was pretty psyched about the coffee-and-flannel ecstasy that was sure to ensue (it did!).

We stuck mostly to Belltown and the downtown area since it was all within walking distance of our hotel* but ventured out a bit to get a taste for other parts of the city.  Pike Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, the EMP Museum, the various bars & cafes, the fog-drenched Olympic Mountains to the west and Mt. Rainier looming off in the distance to the south…it was a PNW dream come true.

I feel I should also mention that I had the best grilled cheese sandwich of my life at the The Pike Brewing Company.  I’m not kidding when I say that sandwich was worth the trip all by itself.

All photos Kodak Portra 35mm film.

Babe alert at The Five Point Cafe, a notorious Seattle dive bar a couple blocks from the hotel.

Bonus: both beer and breakfast food are served 24 hours a day.

*Hyatt House Downtown – highly recommended; our room had a killer view of the Space Needle (the photo above was out the hotel room window), Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains.
